BOISE, ID – Five conservative candidates for the state Legislature earned Idaho Freedom PAC’s endorsement for the May 2024 Republican primary election The latest endorsements, made Thursday, are part of the PAC’s ongoing effort to place a spotlight on genuine conservatives in state politics, where there are many imposters.

The first endorsement was issued for Glenneda Zuiderveld. “Sen. Zuiderveld is an asset to the Idaho Senate, and an unfailing servant of the people,” Idaho Freedom PAC Chair Tina DeBoer said Wednesday. “Her conservative voting record is impeccable, and she has proven her commitment to free markets, limited government, and constitutionally-protected rights.”

Zuiderveld is set to face off with Twin Falls City Council Member Alex Caval, a candidate previously endorsed by big business and other special interests working to expand government in the state. Caval has shown support for illegal immigration on social media, and has attacked conservative stalwarts including Idaho GOP Party Chair Dorothy Moon and Sen. Tammy Nichols.

Idaho Freedom PAC also endorsed four House challengers: Cornel Rasor, running for House Seat A in North Idaho District 1; Kent Marmon, who is seeking House Seat A in Caldwell’s District 11; Lucas Cayler, a candidate for House Seat B in District 11; and Brett Skidmore, a conservative newcomer running for House Seat B in Eastern Idaho’s District 35.

“These men have shown through our rigorous vetting process that they will remain steadfast in their principles once elected to office,” DeBoer explained. “Each candidate endorsed today understands the need for conservative fighters, and pledges to defend liberty while in office.”

Marmon has the chance to unseat one of the most liberal Republicans in the Idaho House;Rep. Julie Yamamoto. Since taking the gavel of the House Education Committee, Yamamoto has worked diligently to prevent education choice and weaken parental rights.

Skidmore is expected to defeat another liberal – House Republican in Rep. Josh Wheeler. Wheeler’s 51% Freedom Index score shows he’s no fan of limited government or personal freedom. His vote for the Biden-style free college program reveals he’s eager to grow government and foster socialism in the Legislature.

Rasor is a longtime conservative activist in North Idaho. His opponent, Rep. Mark Sauter, was the product of a six-way primary and his 51.9% Freedom Index score makes him a terrible fit for his very conservative legislative district.

Finally, Cayler faces off with Sarah Chaney, wife of former Rep. Greg Chaney. While she has no formal record to show, she has repeatedly used her social media platforms to attack solid conservatives like Sen. Tammy Nichols and Sen. Brian Lenney. Chaney has also secured the endorsement of Idaho’s big business special interest group.

Idaho Freedom PAC will release its next slate of endorsed candidates on December 1, 2023. If you’re a candidate interested in securing the Idaho Freedom PAC endorsement in your race, please email [email protected]
